17 June Following the abandonment of the Premier Division 1st XI fixture between Bickley Park and Hartley Country Club on Saturday 12 June 2010 as a result of a dangerous pitch the Shepherd Neame Kent Cricket League Management Committee met and considered the events, facts and issues arising. In view of the profile and nature of the incident and the interest in it the SN KCL Management Committee has decided to publish a summary of its decision. Additional information, correspondence and action points, including those for the SN KCL Management Committee, have been communicated accordingly.

It has been decided that:
1. the result of the match will stand (Match Abandoned - 8 points to each club)
2. BPCC will be fined £150
3. BPCC will be deducted 8 points
4. BPCC will be required to create a remedial plan, which SN KCL will help to devise/implement if requested. This plan will be carefully monitored by the SN KCL Management Committee
5. a similar recurrence will result in more severe action.

SN KCL acknowledges and thanks BPCC for its thoroughness, thoughtfulness and candour in dealing with a difficult situation.

Division 3/4/5 -

A Game of Two Halves. East Sussex batted and were in full command for the first half of the game. After 20 overs they were 141-0. And then the 2nd half fight back began. Ten wickets fell for 71 runs as Upchurch spin twins Adam Hodder (3/37) & Mike Hayles (1/43) stemmed the flow of runs, with Phil Robinson (3/21) and Ben Endacott (3/29) mopping up the stragglers.

In reply Kent Div 3, 4 & 5 started brightly as skipper Stuart Clarke (42) led the well paced charge. The core of the innings was a very well crafted 103 not out from Old Colfeians Richard Harmer, with support from Phil Robinson 47 not out at the other end. A nine wicket victory with 4 overs to spare - another good day out of the office.

Stuart Clarke, Ben Endacott, Jamie Saunders (Linden Park), Richard Harmer & Peter Tarrant (Old Colfeians), Phil Robinson & Tim Dawes (Sidcup), Mike Hayles & Adam Hodder (Upchurch), Neil Scott (Addington) and Chris Jay (Macknade).

Thanks to our opponents from East Sussex for a cracking game and for The Mote for making us welcome and preparing a decent deck. Next round is away to either the Isle of Wight or the Surrey Championship 2 on 5th or 7th July.

Reporting of results this week by some has been shambles to say the least! You are expected to enter the correct scores in the summary result if play took place and a scorecard is also required for all such matches. It is possible that clubs who enter incorrect summary results in the future will be subject to point deductions. You have a duty to ensure correct information is entered on a Sunday morning.
