KENT WIN NATIONAL FINAL

Kent have regained the National title after an 8 wicket win over Surrey in the final at Horsham on Sunday. This is Kent's 6th title and ensures we stay well ahead of the field in the list of winners.

Played on a superb wicket and a fast outfield, the batsmen enjoyed themselves as Surrey posted a total of 250-3. Anchored by Chris Evans with 100 they accelerated well after being kept quiet for long periods by Chris Mendham (1-27 off 9) and David Prior in particular.

This proved to be too low a score as Jim Howgego stroked his way to his 149th career century. His 112no, with help from skipper Keith Wooding with 24; Mark Taylor 51 and Ian Linstead 43no, saw us to victory with 4 overs to spare.

With the 20/20 Cup in the bag; our women National County Champions and Tunbridge Wells U15 champions, all we now need is for Bromley to win the Cockspur Cup and Blackheath the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy and Kent will have had a good year!
